Explanation Printer Driver and Utility for Linux OS environment.

[Function change]
  • Changed following names of user interface (UI) for color correction on the operation panel of the printer:
  • - [No Correction] -> [None]
  • - [Business Graphic] -> [Epson Vivid Color]

  • Made available to perform auto cutting on a label of less than 15 mm in length (the minimum length of a label).

[Support Model]
  • CW-C6500 series (Firmware Ver. 03.66.TS14M3 or later)
  • CW-C6500 series (Firmware Ver. 03.66.TS14M3 or later)

[Restrictions]
  • To use Linux Printer Driver Ver. 1.2.3, the printer firmware must be upgraded to the latest version. In combination with the firmware Ver. 03.62.TS02M2 or earlier is unusable.

[Operation confirmed OS*]
  • Ubuntu 20.04 (64bit)
  • CentOS 7 (64bit)

  • - OSes written in the above are NOT operation guaranteed.
  • - Due to the large number of distributions and versions of Linux, Epson does not guarantee operation on any particular OS distribution or version.
  • For OSes other than the above, ask the user to confirm the operation.

[Note]
We assume that Linux Driver is provided to users (SI or VAR) who can build the Linux system.

[Linux Driver]
- We provide minimum functionality to perform print job. However, functions that do not meet the restrictions of Linux OS are excluded.
- Users need command line skills to operate Linux Driver. GUI (Graphical User Interface) is not included.


[Assumed user]
  • - SI and VAR.
  • - User who can build Linux system by themselves.

[Design policy]
  • - Providing only minimal functionality for printing.
  • - It basically provides the same functions as the Mac driver. However, the functions that cannot be realized due to the limitation of Linux OS are excluded.
  • - The user mainly operates the driver from the command line. Does not provide a rich GUI.
